A Little Update

Hey guys!

I wanted to share with you a little update of what I’ve been doing these past few months. My first semester of junior year is over, and I have a two-week break until school starts back up again. I’m planning on posting as much as I can and prewriting some updates for when I eventually get too busy to write again. With the holidays approaching, there should be plenty to talk about.

We last spoke around Thanksgiving. My Thanksgiving was fairly traditional, beginning around four p.m., although my mom and some of her sisters were up very early to partake in an annual Thanksgiving race for charity. My aunt hosted the dinner this year. Not a whole lot to share here except for good food and good memories, although Thanksgiving has never really been one of my favorite holidays.

I spent Black Friday making some major physical changes instead of shopping – I cut my hair! I cut probably four-five inches off of it, and although that may not sound like a lot, it definitely made a noticeable difference. I love my short hair and how easy it is to manage. I also dyed my hair a little bit of a lighter, more auburn-brown with the help of a family friend.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving my best friend Kay and I went to San Francisco to do some shopping. We left town early in the morning and took BART from Walnut Creek. I had never taken BART to the city before so I was really relieved at how easy and hassle-free it was. We spent the day shopping, eating, and enjoying the holiday decorations in Union Square. We had lunch at Boudin, a place I’ve never eaten before even though there’s one only about twenty minutes from where I live. Apparently they specialize in bread – Kay and I ate grilled cheese and it was by far one of the best grilled cheese I’ve ever had. We spent a lot of money in Urban Outfitters; I’ll link everything I bought down below.

The following Thursday was my town’s annual tree lighting and holiday celebrations. A large tree is constructed in the center of downtown and there are tons of festivities. Choirs come to sing, Santa makes a visit, and local shops hand out cookies and cider to kids and their parents. The competition cheer squad was working the event to fundraise for one of their upcoming competitions, so cheerleaders were selling cookies, manning lines and walking around dressed in costumes that were quite frankly a little terrifying. Although I’m not on the competition squad I went to hang out with some of my friends and enjoy the holiday cheer.

It’s Winter Ball season! Or at least, it was. Wiball is my school’s junior prom, winter formal, whatever you call it. Typically a date-dance, people dress up a little fancier than they did for Homecoming and brave the cold for a gym dance-floor. This year, my friend Alice and I were each other’s dates. I made her a sign so that we could try to win free tickets in the proposal contest, although the winner was a boy who wrote his date a little song and performed it. Honestly over-the-top, but totally cool.

My wiball dress was from ASOS and by far the prettiest dress I had ever seen. It fit the dance theme of Starry Night and I received tons of compliments on it. My hair and makeup was done by Matt’s girlfriend’s little sister and her squad of beauty-talented freshmen. Alice and I had a great forty-five minutes or so before leaving to do other things in true high-school dance fashion. But our time at the dance itself was a lot of fun.

That catches us up to now! I just finished my finals last week and managed to pass all of my classes, including AP Biology. I’m staying in town for most of my holiday break, but I’ll get to visit with some of my family, which I’m very much looking forward to. Because of all my free time, I will be attempting to post every day. The way that takes form may be a little different, but I suppose we’ll have to wait and see.

I’ve missed all of you and your posts and I’m doing my best to get caught up. But in the meantime, leave me a little comment telling me how you’ve been. I really do miss you all.

Also, WHERE DID ALL MY POSTS GO?

Unfortunately, there was a little bit of an issue when I was updating my blog and I. Lost. Everything. I’m deeply sorry about this and there is no way for me to fix it at this point. I am so sorry.

Oh no :/ that’s such a shame. I would think there was a way to recover the posts you lost. That sounds like an eventful couple of months :). I finished finals not too long ago myself and I’ll be spending the remainder of my break at home with my family. I’m definitely looking forward to spring break.

I would have hoped so! But I looked everywhere and there was nothing I could do about it. Glad to hear that your finals are done! Hope you enjoy the rest of your break with your family.
