Back to School Essentials ft. Kali Boxes!

Hello friends!

I haven’t forgotten about you. I know it’s been an entire week since I last posted which is crazy, but I’ve been insanely busy. For those who didn’t know, I no longer study independently and therefore I’ve been at school all day with tons of homework. I was a little surprised that I didn’t have any free time last week to write a post, but I’ve finally gotten one done. I considered doing a little weekly recap for you, is that something you’d be interested in reading?

Today, I wanted to share with you my back to school essentials. I don’t know about you, but I love to keep a little bag in my backpack full of things that I might need throughout the day. I don’t normally keep makeup with me, since I’m way too lazy to be retouching during the school day, but I do keep other beauty and lifestyle essentials that are so helpful to have on hand.

I love reusing stuff I already have. There’s no point in spending extra money on something as trivial as a bag to put other stuff in. That’s why I’m using my August Ipsy Glam Bag to hold my beauty essentials! This bag is the perfect size and super adorable as well. The bag itself has an orange-pink ombre color with the words Peace Love Lipstick written on the front. The zipper of this bag is a little golden tassel, which although you can’t see, has got to be my favorite part. And the best part is how this bag literally fits everything! I was worried I’d have to eliminate things to take with me but this bag fits it all.

The first thing I keep with me is a deodorant. Here in California, August through October can be as hot as 110 degrees, so it’s nice to have a deodorant just in case. I probably should have gotten the mini-sized one, but the best thing about the Ipsy bag is it fits the full size one with room to spare. I’ve been using the Secret Hawaii Citrus for a while now and I love it – I fully trust its strength. Although, there’s no shame in calling for backup.

The next thing I carry with me are oil blotting sheets. These things have totally saved my life. I have super oily skin in my T-zone and it becomes way more prominent with hot weather. I honestly go through probably three of these a day, which yes, is disgusting, but also so satisfying. If you aren’t carrying these already I highly suggest that you do! You simply take a little paper out, blot your face, and that’s it! Your makeup won’t budge but all of the oil and dirt in your pores will. These are by far my favorite product ever, especially for back to school. No more ripping apart those flimsy seat covers in the bathroom with these.

I also like to keep a little mini dry shampoo with me just in case. Although I wash my hair every night (which yes, I know that’s bad, but it’s what works for me), sometimes it’ll get oily midday. I use the Not Your Mother’s Dry Shampoo, which comes in this convenient little travel size and is perfect to throw in your bag for touch-ups. Personally, I feel like oily hair not only looks gross but feels really gross as well. I also don’t like wearing my hair up at school, so I keep this with me just in case I get a little oily during the school day.

We can’t forget about lady supplies. I always like to keep some liners and tampons with me, since you’ll never know when you or someone else might need one! I get my feminine care products from Kali Boxes, a period subscription box that sends organic, chemical-free tampons and pads to your door each month. I’m absolutely in love with the sleek, minimalistic design of these and of course the chemical-free aspect as well. Nothing more off-putting than the idea of stuffing something extremely chemical up there.

In addition to pads and tampons, I also like to keep these little wipettes with me as well. Call it gross, I call it smart. You never know when you’re going to have a leak or need a little bit of freshening up. And guess what? No need to worry about the awkward trip to the store. Kali Boxes sends a whole bunch of wipettes straight to your door! These paraben and sulfate-free cotton wipes come in similar minimalistic packaging and are the perfect size to throw in a bag, backpack or purse.

The last thing I like to keep with me is a pack of gum. Some people prefer mints, but there’s something so calming about the activity of chewing gum. I like to use it both to freshen my breath and to have something fidgety. You’ll have to be careful, though. Pull out a pack of gum at school and everyone’s going to want a piece. There’s definitely an art to being sneaky about it. My favorite gum is anything mint, and I’ve lately been chewing the 5 Peppermint Cobalt flavor.

You’re probably thinking, “Come on, Nat, you’ve mentioned this a couple of times. We don’t know what that is. Tell us what that is.” See, isn’t that impressive? I know what you’re thinking.

Kali Boxes is a period subscription box that mails out every month. The box comes in a simple, white, subtle design and is delivered straight to your house or P.O. box. The box contains completely organic, chemical-free pads and tampons, as well as a handful or so of cotton wipettes and a full-sized beauty item. I received in my box this month a refreshing rosewater spray/toner in the most beautiful orange packaging.

How can I sign up for Kali Boxes? It’s so simple.

1. ย Visit!

2.ย Select frequency.
You can choose between receiving a box every month or every other month. Totally up to you.

3. Choose your box.
There are options such as a luxury box, a tampon and liner only box, a tampon only box, a pad and liner only box, and a wipette only box. Each box has a different price, but none exceed $25. The luxury box is the priciest and only costs about $22.89.

4. Choose absorbency.
Regular? Super? Half and half? The options are all yours.

5. Speed shipping, followed by clockwork?
Your first Kali Box ships 2-3 days after ordering, meaning you could order the week before your lady’s days and still receive your products on time. After your first, your little white box will ship on the first of every month. And if you hate commitment? No worries at all. You can always change up your shipping frequency, absorbency, box plan, or cancel entirely. Kali Boxes is here for you.

My favorite part about Kali Boxes is definitely the simplicity. This company goes back to simple, cotton products without any fuss, chemicals, parabens or sulfates. I also like the extra little beauty item in the luxury box as well, which I think is a super fun surprise on your period. And get this – Kali Boxes is currently in the process of developing a biodegradable plastic tampon applicator! Could it even get better than this?

If you want to see what all of the fuss is about, visit and try it out today!

And do let me know in the comments, what are your back to school essentials?

Have a lovely rest of the week!
