If We Were Having Coffee | 001

Hello friends.

I have seen this type of post floating around the blogosphere, but it wasn’t until I read Georgia’s that I thought I’d do it myself. Perhaps it’s her writing style. Either way, thank you Georgia for inspiring this post.

Make sure that you follow my Pinterest! I’ll make my bedroom board public so that you can see my ideas and progress on my future bedroom. I got such nice feedback from the pinspiration post, I’ll have to chronicle my room transformation.

If we were having coffee, I’d be drinking iced coffee. Just saying, it’s basically June here in California and it’s hot hot hot. If we’re drinking coffee, it’d better be cold.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that school is almost over. No really, there’s only about twelve days of school left, and even less for me because I’m magically exempt from finals. I’d tell you how crazy this summer is going to be.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that these are the last few months my brother will be living with us. I’d tell you that he’s going to college in the fall and I’ll be excited to have the house to myself. I’d tell you that it only means I’ll get to visit SoCal more and I’m excited for that.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that my videos were a flop. I’d tell you that while I enjoyed the concept of making them, I realized how actually stressed out I was only to be disappointed with the final project. I’d tell you I’m bummed and embarrassed but I’d also tell you that I don’t need more stress in my life anyways.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m still trying to get into modelling. I’d tell you that I’m about an inch shorter than most of the minimum height requirements and I’m discouraged. I’d tell you I’m embarrassed to tell my friends about it because I don’t want them to laugh at me for having such an absurd idea.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you about my job search. In California, there’s an age limit on most jobs. I’d tell you that the little league baseball season is ending and I need a source of income for the summer.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you how extremely excited I am about the summer. I’d tell you about my plans of spending days on days at the beach, despite the nearest beach being a couple of hours away. I’d tell you how I hope to get tan and be happy.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you about how seriously I need to start taking getting fit and healthy. I’d tell you that I’m going to hit the gym more, and I’d tell you that I really need to start eating better. I’d tell you I’m disappointed in myself for not having the willpower to stick to anything.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you about how happy my blog makes me. I’d tell you about how nice it is to have this community of friends who read my thoughts and makes it feel like I’m having coffee with them every day. I’d also tell you how sometimes it can be stressful to decide between writing what I want and writing what the audience wants. I’d tell you that sometimes personal creativity only gets you so far.

But most importantly, If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that no matter how ridiculous my ideas or passions are, I’m not going to give up on them until I can’t possibly go any further. So don’t expect any giving up around here.

I think I need to start joining you and Georgia in this because I love the “if we were having coffee” Iced for me too 😉 Total bummer about the vlogging I was hoping you’d start! Although, I love your blog and reading it so this will do <3 Buttt I think modeling would be an amazing thing, you're such a beauty people will love you! I tried way back when in my high school years, it was hard just because of school and traveling (mostly long drives that my mom wasn't fond of lol) needless to say it was very short-lived and I wasn't really about it anyways. I really think you should go for it, it does't hurt to try!!! And how the heck did you get exempt from your finals?! That's awesome!!! YAY for summer, I'm so ready for it too! Nice having coffee with you 🙂

    xo, JJ

You should totally give it a try? Mind if I send you an email about the modelling? I’d like to know how you got into it! And yes, I don’t think my mom will be thrilled with that either but I guess we’ll see if anyone even wants me! Thanks for stopping by as always, can’t wait to have coffee again!

This is a great idea for a blog post!
Aww why do you feel that your videos were a flop? Everyone has to start somewhere and video is a challenging medium. Keep at it! Good luck with the modelling and job search – neither of those are easy and it honestly boils down to a lot of luck and being at the right place at the right time.
Your blog has really flourished because you put out compelling content. I just want to say, I’m older than you, and you have more poise and gumption that I ever did at your age! Just sayin. 🙂

Thank you so much! As for the videos, I don’t know, but they weren’t my best work and I knew that. The quality wasn’t great and I didn’t want to put up something I was ashamed of. And thanks about the modelling and job search, you’re totally right. It’s all about being in the right place at the right time, which never seems to happen to me! And thank you so much for the kind words about my blog, it really touches my heart!

Love this post!! You should definitely model, never get discouraged about anything. And NEVER be ashamed!! Just maybe forget about the tan? Skin cancer is a very serious issue, be really careful about the sun, honey 🙂

Thank you so much Cheila! I really appreciate the support. And that’s true, but I always make sure to put a ton of sunscreen on, especially my face! My brother just went to an outdoor music fest and his face is totally burnt!

I love keeping up with your life! If we were having coffee, I would let you know that you do not have any absurd ideas. You have courageous dreams of modeling and writing. I wouldn’t want you to feel discouraged because you are right to keep on going! I remember how hard it was to find a job when I first started looking, and I hope that you’re able to find one soon! And I also remember getting the house to myself when my sister first left for college, it is definitely a lot of fun 🙂

    • May 22, 2017 / 11:24 am

Thank you so much for the kind words! It means a lot that you don’t think my dreams are absurd. I wish I cared less about what people thought of me! And I think it’ll be so strange to be the only child at home! Thanks as always for stopping by!

Aw that last thought clinches it. Do not give up on your dreams, no matter how hard it seems, Natalie. Here’s with a glass of iced coffee too 🙂

    • May 22, 2017 / 11:23 am

Ahh thank you so so much! It is hard sometimes but you’re right. We shouldn’t ever give up!

I love this post so much! If we were having coffee I’d support you and your goals relentlessly! I think it’s very inspiring that there you’re dedicated to working towards your goals, even if the industry you want to work in isn’t flexible. Also, I agree, so many of my blogging friends make me feel like I’m having coffee with them everyday! 🙂
I really want to do my own “if we were having coffee” post now! Yours is awesome!

  10. May 21, 2017 / 4:31 pm

Don’t give up on you dreams! If your friends make fun of you for not being able to model, then they aren’t worth your time! Hold your head up and you do you 🙂

    • May 21, 2017 / 7:00 pm

Thank you so much! And that’s true. Of course I know they wouldn’t make fun of me, but still! Thanks for stopping by!

Hey! First of all, I loved this post! Secondly, okay, need to add on my list: If we were having coffee, I would tell you that vlogging is also an embarrassing topic to discuss because YouTube is not too common here in Canada, so telling people about it makes a super awkward conversation. I would also tell you that no matter what, just do you, set goals, and try and achieve them because it doesn’t matter what everyone else thinks. You should live to make yourself happy, not others. Thankfully the modelling world is becoming a little more open minded when it comes to people looking slightly different from one another, so I don’t think the one inch difference will make a huge difference! Keep working hard on yourself, and everything else will come with time! xx

    • May 21, 2017 / 3:18 pm

You’re such a kind soul, Georgia! I wonder why YouTube is such a strange thing to talk about. But since there aren’t as many people doing it in Canada, you have the uniqueness to your craft. About the modelling, it is. But it’s difficult still and I hate talking about it because I’m worried people will make fun of me!

  13. May 21, 2017 / 1:49 pm

I also saw Georgia’s post on this, and I really do love this idea! I too, would join you in iced coffees. Even in winter, I drink iced coffees. Once, it gave me a cold, but I just love iced coffee too much. I’m happy that soon school will be over, it’ll be summer and you can have so much free time! I would say that I always failed going to the gym, so I’ve started home workouts, and that’s actually been working out for me. If we were having coffee, I would agree with you about how amazing blogging is. I would also say, go back and forth about posts you want to do, and then posts you think your audience wants. I try to hit that balance, but mostly I write about what I want. I love doing the A-Z Challenge, and while that gets the least amount of traffic, it’s so much fun to write! Keep doing what you’re doing Nat! I’m jealous it’s hot where you are, it’s freezing down here 🙂

    • May 21, 2017 / 3:17 pm

Thank you so much for reading Angela! I need to get into home workouts, but for some reason I have this weird belief that they don’t work. I work on my butt at home because some of the moves are well, awkward, and it’s not something I want people watching in the gym! As for the blogging, my post traffic is super inconsistent. Like, people will like one type of post one day and hate it the next. Strange, isn’t it?

      • May 21, 2017 / 3:38 pm

It really is. Blogging is fun but it is a bit of a strange world. As long as you’re loving what you’re doing though, then keep at it 🙂
