July Favorites!

Hello friends!

I honestly can’t believe that July is already over. I know that I say that with the ending of every month, but for real! Summer is practically over, with only a couple of weeks left before school starts again, and before we know it it’ll be autumn. I just find that crazy hard to believe. 2017 is almost over, when you really think about it. Time sure does fly, doesn’t it?

Today I’ve gathered a few items to do a little July favorites post for you! I haven’t done a favorites post since my combined April and May favorites, mostly because I tend to use the same products and therefore I never had enough to write an entire post on. But I’ve used and discovered a lot of new things this past month and I’m excited to be sharing them with you!

My first favorite from the month of July is Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur. I’m pretty sure that I mentioned this as a February favorite, but I’ve been reading it more and more lately and therefore I’m re-adding it for July. I received this book for Christmas and it’s full of poetry about heartbreak, relationships and healing. The whole book is actually pretty famous; I’m sure that at one point you’ve seen a short poem on Pinterest or Instagram somewhere! I’ve also included a little snapshot of one of my favorite poems in the entire book.

My next favorite is the cult-classic Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel. I picked this up at Target a couple of weeks ago, even though I was meaning to get a different skincare-related item, and I’ve been loving it ever since. I’m taking a little bit of a break from my trusty Pixi Glow Tonic after my skin started acting up and switched over to this alcohol-free toner instead. Witch Hazel is praised by many for working to get rid of acne, scars, and all sorts of skin issues. When I started using it, I did have a little bit of a purging period and was breaking out on my forehead, but the breakouts have gone away now and my skin is improving. I love the refreshing feel of this toner and also the light, fresh, rosey scent!

Another product I’ve been using a lot is the Waxing Kara Honey Raspberry Lemon lip scrub. I won’t go into too much detail here, since I just wrote a whole post about Waxing Kara, which you can read right here. I will say that I’m obsessed with how moisturizing this lip scrub is! It’s definitely one of my favorite parts of my nightly skincare routine.

My first Ipsy bag truly did not disappoint! I received this Nomad highlighter in the color Midnight Sun and I’ve been wild about it since. The shimmer is unreal and lasts a ridiculously long time, even without a setting spray. I’m all about the highlighted, glowy look for the summer so I’ve been using a lot of this on my cheekbones for a natural, shimmery makeup look. This size is a deluxe sample and I honestly have no idea how much it costs, but I should probably look into that for when I run out!

I’ve been wearing my NAMI Lokai bracelet a lot lately since it adds a nice pop of color to a basic summer outfit! I talked about this bracelet a little bit in my post, The Nonexistent Correlation Between Social Status and Mental Health, but in case you’ve never heard of Lokai, it’s a company that makes these type of bracelets. It’s said that the white bead contains water from the top of Mt. Everest, the highest point in the world, and the black bead contains mud from the bottom of the Dead Sea, the lowest point in the world. It’s supposed to remind you to stay balanced. Lokai also picks charities to support, and I was super excited when I found out they were supporting the National Alliance on Mental Illness, or NAMI. My orange bracelet is a little badge of honor and I’ve been loving wearing it lately.

The Odyssey!
I’ve been helping out with a local production ofย The Odyssey and it’s been a super great time. This, however, is a story for another time.

Arizona Green Tea
My mother finally caved and bought a case of the soda-can-sized 12 ounce Arizona green teas, and I’m so happy about it. The green tea with honey and ginseng is my favorite Arizona flavor, and not just because the green and purple floral packaging is so adorable!

Jelly Splash
If you don’t have this free app yet, download it. I’ve been playing it non-stop whilst watching Netflix and it’s very addicting. I’m currently trying to get three stars on a level and it’s taking me forever.

Boys by Charli XCX
Charli XCX’s new song Boys is currently the talk of the tabloids. The video stars tons of different rappers, actors, Youtubers, and other famous boys and the song is also a total jam. I’ve been listening to it practically non-stop and I love it.

At the Bottom of Everything by Bright Eyes
Speaking of music, I’ve also been jamming out to this song the last few days. One of my friends played it in the car and I instantly fell in love with it. It’s totally my taste in music and I wish I had heard it sooner! I keep listening to it over and over again to understand all of the lyrics and messages.

Those are all of my favorites for the month of July! I hope you enjoyed this little post. What were your favorites for the month of July? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to hear it.

My love to you, of course.

Rupi Kaur is my absolute favourite writer! I’ve even written a post on her work aha. I can’t wait until ‘the sun and her flowers’ comes out. Are you looking forward to it?

I LOVE Thayer’s Witch Hazel toner. It’s definitely the best toner I’ve ever used. I’ve been using it for a while now. Witch hazel is great for the skin, and I love that it also has aloe and rose water in it. I like the smell as well and it doesn’t leave your skin feeling gross.

    • August 5, 2017 / 12:12 pm

It’s such an amazing product! Thank you for reading!

  5. August 4, 2017 / 11:25 am

Witch hazel is one of my favoriteee skin products, it seriously works wonders. Which reminds me I need a new bottle of it! I’ve heard of/seen Lokai bracelets before but never really knew what they were other than a bracelet, and I love the idea of them though- I think its really cool how certain beads are from different locations and have those meanings behind it! I need to go look these up now because I want one!

    xo, JJ

I had heard so much lovely stuff about witch hazel, I’m happy to finally be on the bandwagon! And I personally think the bracelets are really cool – even though everyone will try to ruin it by saying they cut it open and there was really no water or something. It’s still a reminder to stay balanced and I love that! Thanks for reading, your comments always make my day!

I have been hearing SO much about that book, I am going to order it right now! I cannot believe that it is already August!

  10. August 1, 2017 / 6:44 pm

I read Milk and Honey in one sitting! There were so many poems I took pictures of to save on my phone. And I’ve been wanting to try the witch hazel toner, I’m glad to hear it worked for you. I might have to go out and buy it tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚

    • August 1, 2017 / 8:00 pm

It’s so hard to resist reading it all at once! When I first got it I would only let myself read a few pages a day so it would last! And you should, I think it’s a great product! Thank you for reading!

  11. August 1, 2017 / 4:10 pm

I’ve been hearing a lot of Milk and Honey. I don’t often read poetry, but the snippets I’ve been getting from this sounds really interesting! I have to remember to move it up the TBR list ๐Ÿ˜‚

    • August 1, 2017 / 5:17 pm

I typically don’t like long poetry either, but these poems are so simple, short and sweet that they’re beautiful to read. They also don’t follow the typical rhyming or anything, just short snippets of text. Thanks for reading, Angela!

Milk and Honey is SO beautiful! I love it so much and it really resonated with me. <3 Hope you have a great August! ๐Ÿ˜€

The bracelet sounds interesting! I’ll have to check out the online store!!!

They have a standard one always on their website and then they also normally have some limited edition ones! I think you can get them in certain stores too! Thanks for reading!
