I’ve finally taken the plunge and signed up for Ipsy! I had been going back in forth between Ipsy and Birchbox, but I really like that Ipsy lets me choose exactly what products I want to receive. Because of my sensitive skin, I was worried about getting a bag full of moisturizers and cleansers! I also love the little bag that you get with Ipsy as opposed to the cardboard box from Birchbox.
For those who may not know, Ipsy is a beauty subscription brand that sends one bag with five deluxe sample products each month. You can choose your preferences and colors on the Ipsy website, which guarantees that you’ll be pretty satisfied with everything you receive. I had been wanting to sign up for Ipsy for at least a year, and I finally connected my Paypal last month to try it out. But after receiving my first bag, I’m obsessed! I can’t wait to get my August one!
This month’s bag was Gudetama themed. Honestly, I’m not really sure what Gudetama is. He is a Japanese egg character, who is extremely lazy. The funny thing is that I actually knew of Gudetama before receiving this bag, since one of my friends from school loves him! I think he’s adorable and funny, and apparently popular. Even Matt knows who he is.
Anyways, with all of my talking out of the way, let’s get into what I received this month from Ipsy!
Let’s start with the bag. Like I said, I love the fact that they send these little reusable bags! This is Gudetama, in his lazy egg state. The little zipper at the top says “meh…”, which I think is so fitting for his character. The bag isn’t huge – think five samples, but a perfect size for travelling with a few makeup items!
The first thing I received is the tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer. I always love a good bronzer, since my go-to makeup look is sunkissed natural. I’m loving this one so much right now! It’s almost a little shimmery, which adds to the glowy skin look, and I think it’s absolutely beautiful. I would totally buy this!
The next thing I got is the Seraphine Botanicals Ginger + Gold blush! This product is also insanely beautiful. The color is peach-gold, rather than the typical pink, which compliments my skin tone a lot better and also adds to the sunkissed look. Somehow Ipsy knew I was totally into the sunkissed look, and I love that. Again, I would buy this one!
Next, I received the Nomad Cosmetics Illuminating Highlighter in the color Midnight Sun. This product is the definition of highlighter on point. The shimmery gold powder hits the light perfectly, and lasts all day without a setting spray! I’ve been using this for the past few days, and when I check my makeup six hours later, the shimmer is still there, which is amazing to me, since I never wear setting spray. Perfect. And would I buy this? Totally.
The fourth product in my bag is the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner in Black. I honestly forgot that I had signed up to receive eyeliners, and I’ll probably adjust that, considering I hardly ever wear eyeliner. I’ve been wearing this one the past few days on my upper waterline, and I’m thoroughly impressed by the tear-proof factor. The formula stays put in my waterline all day, but also washes off with regular water. However, the smudge-proof claim is a little false, considering that by the end of the day, half my eyeliner was under my eye, giving me total raccoon eyes! I probably would not buy this, simply because I don’t wear eyeliner, but I think it’s a great product to have on hand.
The last product I received was the Hanalei Lip Treatment in the color Rose. Now, I don’t normally wear lipstick or lip gloss because I get tired of having it on my lips after a while. This product is perfect for me, it’s basically a colored lip balm/lip tint, and I’m in love. The color is very subtle on my lips and the formula is moisturizing. My only complaint is that it’s a little bit heavy and greasy, but I think that’s because I’ve been putting a little bit too much on. A little goes a long way, but it’s also very easy to overdo it. Would I buy this one? Probably. I think I’ll need to use it a little more before totally deciding.
Those are the five products I received in my July Ipsy bag! I’m so happy with Ipsy so far and I seriously can’t wait until I get my August bag. Are any of you subscribed to Ipsy? What did you receive in your July bag? What do you think of Gudetama? Let me know in the comments. You know I love getting your comments.
Until Thursday, my loves.
