July Ipsy Bag!

Hello friends!

I’ve finally taken the plunge and signed up for Ipsy! I had been going back in forth between Ipsy and Birchbox, but I really like that Ipsy lets me choose exactly what products I want to receive. Because of my sensitive skin, I was worried about getting a bag full of moisturizers and cleansers! I also love the little bag that you get with Ipsy as opposed to the cardboard box from Birchbox.

For those who may not know, Ipsy is a beauty subscription brand that sends one bag with five deluxe sample products each month. You can choose your preferences and colors on the Ipsy website, which guarantees that you’ll be pretty satisfied with everything you receive. I had been wanting to sign up for Ipsy for at least a year, and I finally connected my Paypal last month to try it out. But after receiving my first bag, I’m obsessed! I can’t wait to get my August one!

This month’s bag was Gudetama themed. Honestly, I’m not really sure what Gudetama is. He is a Japanese egg character, who is extremely lazy. The funny thing is that I actually knew of Gudetama before receiving this bag, since one of my friends from school loves him! I think he’s adorable and funny, and apparently popular. Even Matt knows who he is.

Anyways, with all of my talking out of the way, let’s get into what I received this month from Ipsy!

Let’s start with the bag. Like I said, I love the fact that they send these little reusable bags! This is Gudetama, in his lazy egg state. The little zipper at the top says “meh…”, which I think is so fitting for his character. The bag isn’t huge – think five samples, but a perfect size for travelling with a few makeup items!

The first thing I received is the tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer. I always love a good bronzer, since my go-to makeup look is sunkissed natural. I’m loving this one so much right now! It’s almost a little shimmery, which adds to the glowy skin look, and I think it’s absolutely beautiful. I would totally buy this!

The next thing I got is the Seraphine Botanicals Ginger + Gold blush! This product is also insanely beautiful. The color is peach-gold, rather than the typical pink, which compliments my skin tone a lot better and also adds to the sunkissed look. Somehow Ipsy knew I was totally into the sunkissed look, and I love that. Again, I would buy this one!

Next, I received the Nomad Cosmetics Illuminating Highlighter in the color Midnight Sun. This product is the definition of highlighter on point. The shimmery gold powder hits the light perfectly, and lasts all day without a setting spray! I’ve been using this for the past few days, and when I check my makeup six hours later, the shimmer is still there, which is amazing to me, since I never wear setting spray. Perfect. And would I buy this? Totally.

The fourth product in my bag is the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner in Black. I honestly forgot that I had signed up to receive eyeliners, and I’ll probably adjust that, considering I hardly ever wear eyeliner. I’ve been wearing this one the past few days on my upper waterline, and I’m thoroughly impressed by the tear-proof factor. The formula stays put in my waterline all day, but also washes off with regular water. However, the smudge-proof claim is a little false, considering that by the end of the day, half my eyeliner was under my eye, giving me total raccoon eyes! I probably would not buy this, simply because I don’t wear eyeliner, but I think it’s a great product to have on hand.

The last product I received was the Hanalei Lip Treatment in the color Rose. Now, I don’t normally wear lipstick or lip gloss because I get tired of having it on my lips after a while. This product is perfect for me, it’s basically a colored lip balm/lip tint, and I’m in love. The color is very subtle on my lips and the formula is moisturizing. My only complaint is that it’s a little bit heavy and greasy, but I think that’s because I’ve been putting a little bit too much on. A little goes a long way, but it’s also very easy to overdo it. Would I buy this one? Probably. I think I’ll need to use it a little more before totally deciding.

Left to right: tarte bronzer, Seraphine Botanicals blush, Nomad highlighter, Eyeko eyeliner, Hanalei lip treatment

Those are the five products I received in my July Ipsy bag! I’m so happy with Ipsy so far and I seriously can’t wait until I get my August bag. Are any of you subscribed to Ipsy? What did you receive in your July bag? What do you think of Gudetama? Let me know in the comments. You know I love getting your comments.

Until Thursday, my loves.

Yay so glad you signed up! I just love IPSY. You got some great stuff – very different from my bag. I am obsessed with that Tarte bronzer, it goes great with a nice base summer tan πŸ™‚

What great products in your Ipsy bag! And the bag design is adorable – Gudetama is so hilarious in his apathy. πŸ˜›

You didn’t get any products in your July bag that I received (I recently made a post with what I got, if you’re interested), but I did receive that Eyeko eyeliner in one of my previous bags. I don’t use liquid eyeliner though, so I gave it to a friend.

I’ll check out your post! I like the Eyeko liner, for liquid eyeliners it’s not bad! Thank you for reading!

Apparently they don’t ship to many countries, I’ve gotten many comments saying that! Thank you for reading!

It’s $10 a month! I probably should have mentioned that but I totally forgot!

I was subscribed for ipsy for quite awhile and they definitely improved on the products you get in your glam bag πŸ™‚ I have the original Hanalei lip treatment and I really like it. My only thing is the lip treatment doesn’t seem to last for too long.

    • July 19, 2017 / 7:15 pm

True, it definitely rubs off after a while, but at least it’s small enough to carry with you!

      • July 21, 2017 / 4:30 pm

Yes, it’s perfect for traveling or on the go which I appreciate.

I didn’t know about Gudetama either until I read someone elses post describing/explaining it too. But yayyyy I’m so excited that you decided to go through with Ipsy!!! I got some of the same stuff as you (tarte bronzer and that blush) both of which I haven’t tried yet, have you? I love the highlighter you got it’s such a pretty shade, perfectly soft and delicate! I swear I get so excited each month the anticipation kills me!

    xo, JJ

I’ve tried everything! I was too excited! The bronzer I love, it’s perfect for my skin tone! And the blush is so gorgeous, although this morning I took it out to use and it was shattered! I think I must have dropped it while taking pictures and didn’t even notice! I’m bummed about that. Thank you so much for reading!

I don’t know Gudetama but he’s cute! I’m debating between Ipsy and the Sephora Play subscriptions right now!

    • July 19, 2017 / 11:54 am

I’ve heard of the Sephora Play! Are they the same price? I like Ipsy because of the collectible bag, but I honestly don’t know very much about Sephora Play – do they send bags as well? Thank you for reading, Pamela!

      • July 19, 2017 / 1:09 pm

I believe they are the same price! They do send a bag but it’s not the same quality as the Ipsy ones. They’re like small drawstring bags.

        • July 19, 2017 / 7:14 pm

Interesting! I guess it all comes down to personal preference!

  13. July 19, 2017 / 3:29 am

I’ve been subscribed to IPSY for over a year now and I’ve received about a handful of products I don’t even care to try. I also love their bags! I give them to my mom all the time and she loves them. Haven’t received my July bag yet, but that’s because I’m in Hawaii. I got the Eyeko eyeliner in my bag too a couple months ago. I was actually impressed. I’ve been stuck to my usuals, but I have to say I reached for this more than I expected too. Great post! Loved reading this!

    • July 19, 2017 / 11:54 am

Are you on Hawaii on vacation? How fun, I wish I was in Hawaii! The eyeliner is pretty good as eyeliners go, I just don’t ever wear eyeliner! Thank you for reading, I really appreciate it!

I have been wanting to sign up for a Ipsy or Boxycharm, however they don’t ship to the country I live in.. Hopefully they will though, as these Ipsy bags seem like a lot of fun to receive every month. Great post! Xx

    • July 19, 2017 / 11:53 am

I’ve never heard of Boxycharm, what is it? And that’s a bummer – is there any company that does ship to your country? Thank you for reading!

      • July 20, 2017 / 9:11 am

Boxycharm is a subscription service similar to Birchbox (I think), and if they shipped to my Scandinavia I would definitely be subscribed. I think Glossybox is the only beauty subscription box that I know about that does ship to Scandinavia. No problem xx

Gudetama is so cute! I vaguely know him but I love the style he’s drawn in and that he’s a lazy egg πŸ˜‚
Ipsy definitely seems like a good subscription box πŸ˜„

    • July 18, 2017 / 9:05 pm

I think he’s hilarious! I’d also say it’s probably one of the best. It depends on whether you want full sized products or samples, but for only $10 a month, it’s pretty hard to beat! Thank you for reading, Angela!
