Mini Fat and the Moon Review

Hello friends!

I’m finally back home from my vacation, and I’m super tired. Who knew you could come back tired from a relaxing vacation? To be fair, lounging around on the beach all day really takes a toll on you. I wanted to thank you all for your feedback on my daily blogging throughout my vacation. I had a lot of fun doing it and I actually got pretty inspired whilst away, so I will be continuing it for a few days. I hope that I can make it through an entire week, but I’m not sure that’s likely. I still need to develop a proper and attainable blogging schedule. I’ll add that to the list of things I need to do this week.

Today, I want to share with you one of the best natural cosmetics brands out there. I know I don’t talk about it much, but I’m a huge advocate for natural skincare and makeup due to my sensitive skin. It’s getting harder and harder for me to find something chemical that doesn’t make me break out, and so I’ve turned to natural solutions – ingredients that were grown or produced in the soil and can be pronounced by anyone. One of the brands that I’ve discovered through this process is Fat and the Moon, a natural skincare alternative to the toxic skincare found on the market these days. The name Fat comes from the natural oils used in the products. Here’s a little excerpt from their about page:

The ‘fat’ in Fat and the Moon comes from love of the material- oil is the medium of external herbal medicine. Fat, in the form of oil, is the gift of the seed. In both plants and animals, fat is where energy is stored. The richness we taste in food, and the suppleness we feel on our skin after a good slather of bath oil, is our bodies recognition of and pleasure in that vital energy. Oil from plants, in and of itself, is medicinal. Fat and the Moon bod care products are the result of indulgent play of fat and herbs, especially under the influence of the moon.

Fat and the Moon creates tons of different types of makeup and skincare. From eyeliner, deemed eye coal, to face masks and the renowned Pimple Mud, there’s virtually something for everybody. Not to mention that every product is extremely affordable – almost everything is under $30 – which tends to be hard to find with natural products.

Another thing I love about Fat and the Moon is the packaging. The design is somewhat witch-y, and reminds me a little of New Orleans, even though I couldn’t tell you why. There’s something mysterious about it – I love the way that it doesn’t resemble other typical skincare labels. The packaging really stands out and sets the brand apart from its competitors.

I was lucky enough to receive a few samples from Fat and the Moon, and I’m here to share with you everything I’ve learned from using them the past few days. I received Beam, a highlighting balm, and Lil’ Deodorant Cream, a natural deodorant balm.

Let’s talk about Beam first. Beam is one of my all-time favorite products. I never really used an actual highlighting powder before; I honestly just used the lightest shade in some e.l.f eye shadow quad I had found at the back of my makeup drawer, and it worked just fine. But I’ll admit that I was totally missing out. Beam isn’t a powder, but a balm. I apply it by rubbing a little onto my finger and then rubbing it into my skin, rather than dabbing. The product looks light in the pot and on your finger, so it’s really easy to overdo it. The first time I put it on, I thought I didn’t have enough on, so I kept putting more and more, and when I turned to the side, the light caught my highlight and I almost blinded myself. Not really, but it’s definitely subtler in the pot than on the skin.

Would I buy this again? Of course! I’m in love with it, and I’m already dreading it running out. The formula is creamy but not oily, with the perfect amount of shine. The product runs for $18.00 and is definitely a must-have for your all-natural makeup stash!

The other product I received was Lil’ Deodorant Cream. I must admit that I was a little wary to use this at first, as I’m a firm believer in my Secret Hawaiian Citrus. But like I said, I’m really working on eliminating chemical-based products from my beauty routine, so after a while I was actually really intrigued. I’ve read that chemical deodorants can be really bad for you, especially how often we use them. Lil’ Deodorant Cream comes in a small, 0.5 oz pot, similar to Beam. The application process is similar as well – simply rub a little on your fingers, and apply. The smell is very fresh and a little bit medicinal, described on their website as “a lovely harmony of black pepper, bergamot, and a hint of citrus with a base of clary sage.” Me, being the fake deodorant scent lover that I am, was not sure that I would enjoy this scent. But I LOVE it. It smells so fresh and subtle, and the packaging is so portable.

Would I buy this again? Yes! I love the scent, and at only $5.00, this deodorant is a steal. However, I noticed that after a while it began to wear off, so this is definitely one that needs to be reapplied. That’s not a problem though, with the easy to carry packaging. Just pop in your bag and go!

That wraps up my little review on Fat and the Moon! If you’re interested in trying out any of these products, click on the italicized links, or visit Fat and the Moon’s website,, to check out what other products are available.

Have you heard of Fat and the Moon? Which products are your favorite? How do you feel about natural skincare and makeup?

My love to you, always.

Because of my journey to discover natural and organic cosmetics, it is unlikely that I will be promoting any chemical-based products unless I truly believe in them.

Fat and the Moon has sent me these products for review, however all opinions are my own.

Bergamot and citrus are my favourite ingredients in a perfume. I used L’occitane for some time and it is refreshing during summer. I shall check this out. Also, you do need a holiday to recover from a holiday 😉
