It’s that time of month again.
Hello, vagina friends.
If you’re anything like me, you dread that one week that ruins your mood, month, and white bedsheets. Same, love, same. In fact, the average woman (or vagina-equipped pal) has around 450 periods in their lifetime – which consists of an insane amount of mood swings, cramps, and ice cream. Unless you’re one of those super-females that powers through her period with minimal to no pain or effects at all, your Aunt Flo’s monthly visit can be a little bit of a drag. That’s why companies such as The PMS Package were created to make our moods (and flows) a little lighter.
The PMS Package is a monthly care package company that was founded in 2015 with a purpose to aid women during their periods and PMS cycles. The box, decorated in a light pink color, contains lots of different self-care goodies as well as a few feminine hygiene products. The brand offers two boxes: an original box, that contains around 7 items and costs $29.99/month, and a premium box, with 8-11 items. The premium box comes with a price tag of $34.99/month with free shipping! I was so intrigued by The PMS Package that I knew I had to try it myself, and after speaking with a lovely representative from the company, my premium package arrived at my doorstep – just in time for my lady’s days, as well. Coincidence, or period magic?
This month’s theme seemed to be cookies, which are probably by far my favorite sweet dessert, so I was VERY excited upon opening. Here’s a little rundown of what was in my November PMS Package:
I’m totally in love with the design of this box. The pink is very light and feminine, and the words are discreet – no large “Hey Everyone, I’m On My Period” writing anywhere. I love the little design of the box with the wings; I think it’s uber cute and fits the brand really well. My box was full of goodies wrapped in this light pink tissue paper, with a little handwritten post-it stuck to the top. A perfect little gesture, in my opinion!
I got quite a few little feminine hygiene items that I was really excited about. First of all, I got this little U By Kotex half-and-half box of tampons and panty liners. And the best part? The tampons are the Click! U By Kotex, which is my absolute favorite brand and basically the only one I use. Next, I got this pouch of Mariposa Feminine Wipes. I recently started using wipes when I received my Kali Box, and they’ve become a staple in my backpack and a period essential. Third, I received this package of MenstruHeat pads, which appear to be IcyHot, but for your uterus. As someone who relies on IcyHot for basically everything, I was super stoked to see these in my box! I normally only have cramps for the first day of my period, so unfortunately these were too late to try out this month, but I’m super excited to use them. Lastly, I got a little plastic bag of Midol packets. I personally don’t and have never used Midol, but it’s great to carry around in case one of my friends needs a little pain relief.
Look at all these cookies! The PMS Package does not play around when it comes to period snacks, and I gotta hand it to them. My box contained: a package of Cheryl’s Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies, two of Mandy’s Rich Chocolate Cookie Thins, one Janis & Melanie Brownie Cookie, and a box of Princess Choco Rocks. I’ve only yet gotten a chance to try the pink and purple chocolate rocks, which are amazing! I can’t wait to try the rest. I may or may not be snacking on them right now…
I would call these last few items self-care items, or just little things to make you happy when Aunt Flo is bringing you down. The first thing I received was cookie themed as well, and that is a Simple Living Cinnamon Spice Cookie candle. This candle smells sugary and delicious, perfect for lighting when you want it to smell like you’ve been baking, without the actual baking. Next, I got this cute little pink pen with a diamond top, and to go with it, a little lip-print notebook. I’m honestly obsessed with this notebook and have already filled the first few pages with blog post ideas!
That is all that I received in my November PMS Package! The little pink box has already made my period less awful, and I hope it’ll do the same for you.
